Frome Cadet Success

Last week saw a special parade of the 1031 (Frome) Squadron of the Air Training Corps. The parade was taken by the Commanding Officer, Flight Lieutenant Andrew March, and Squadron Leader John Parsons, of the Devon & Somerset Wing, with many of the cadet’s parents also in attendance.
During the parade, Squadron Leader Parsons presented the cadets who passed their recent examinations with their Certificates and badges.
Cadets Orman and Baxter both commenced their journey with the ATC with the presentation of their Record of Achievement Books.
Cadets Mallon, Dmitrienko, Slade and Charman passed their Leading Cadet exams with cadets Parker, Anstis, Dyer and Corporal Riddick passing with credit.
Corporal Cromie passed his Senior Cadet exam and Sergeant Cradock and Flight Sergeant Burge both passing with credit.
Further Certificates were awarded to the cadets who attended the Silver Griffin exercise in Cornwall in October. Each cadet was presented with a Heartstart Certificate confirming their participation in the emergency first aid course.
At the end of the evening, two cadets were further honoured with their promotion to Corporal. Maria Dmitrienko and Joe Slade were both taken by surprise at the promotion as this had been kept top secret by all those involved.
Flight Lieutenant March said, " In all the years I have been with the 1031 (Frome) Squadron, this is the first time that such a high number of cadets have taken their examinations in one sitting. I am also pleased to say that one set of examinations resulted in a 100% pass rate, which shows the dedication of the cadets in this Squadron".
Squadron Leader Parsons was also full of praise for the cadets. He said, "This is the first time I have been able to visit Frome for just over 12 months. In my absence, the Squadron has gone from strength to strength and it is a pleasure to see so many cadets, smartly turned out, and be able to present them with so many awards."
