  • Local Airman receives top award!

    S.A.C. Adam Page of Beacon Heath, Exeter was recently presented with a gold medal and framed certificate by The Princess Royal at a formal dinner in London.

    Adam who is based at R.A.F. Lyneham, Wiltshire was judged to be the best trainee of 2005 at the Defence Movements School at R.A.F. Brize Norton, Oxon, where he was presented with a framed print for being the best student of his 24 week course which he completed in July 2005.

    The dinner was hosted by the Worshipful Company of Carmen, who sponsor various annual awards for all three services. Princess Anne was the guest of honour and presented Adam (21) with his gold medal and colour certificate in front of senior members from all the services. After the dinner Adam said " It was a great honour to meet Princess Anne and I am very proud and pleased to have been awarded this prize. My training was first class and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. I am looking forward to making the most of my career in the R.A.F. and know that with my newly acquired knowledge I have the ability to do just that."

    Adam was a member of 13 (City of Exeter) Sqn, Air Training Corps based at Wyvern Barracks and is now serving with the United Kingdom Mobile Air Movements Squadron at Lyneham. He has already spent time in Sardinia and the United States and is being detached to Iraq shortly. He can be sent anywhere in the world at an hours notice to load and unload transport aircraft involved in humanitarian operations or military exercises.


  • 200 SQUADRON MOVES INTO NEW HOME

    200 (Torquay) Squadron recently saw their brand new purpose built Cadet Centre officially opened. The new building which they will share with the local Army Cadet detachment keeps them on the same site at Torquay Boys Grammar School but with modern facilities.

    The official opening was carried out by The Lord Lieutenant of Devon Eric Dancer and was also attended by The Chairman of Torbay Borough Council, and Air Chief Marshall Sir Michael Stear KCB CBE DLMA FRAef RAF (Ret’d) President of Devon and Somerset Wing Air Training Corps.

    The opening saw a parade of both Air and Army Cadets who were inspected by the Lord Lieutenant followed by a look at some of the vast array of activities the cadets enjoy from shooting to first aid, flight simulators to sporting activities and adventure training. Everyone was also treated to a tour around the new centre it’s hoped that the new building will be enjoyed by many more new cadets in the years to come.
