  • 1955 (City of Wells) Sqn win ISCC

    1955 (City of Wells) Air Cadets took part in the Inter Services Cadet Competition at Norton manor camp, Taunton over the weekend of 28-30th October. 13 teams drawn for Sea, Army, Air and Combined Cadet units in Somerset come together each year in teams of 5 to compete against each other. They have to take undertake 12 events, Climbing, Personal Leadership Task, Mine Field, Observation, Team Ski, Aircraft/Boat/tank recognition, Paintball, Orienteering, .22 shooting, 5.56 shooting, First Aid and Dismounted Close Combat Training. The team consisting of Cpl’s Joe Ward, Ed Exell (2 i/c) Tom Higgs, Jake Stephens and Marty Treverrow (Captain) won three stands out right and took overall first place, to retain the trophy that they won last year.

    Flt Lt John G Heath RAF VR(T) OC of the squadron paid tribute to the team and their training, by stating that the squadrons staff, committee and the cadets themselves have put in a great deal of effort into reaching such high standards, that have been demonstrated in the teams achievements this year in retaining the cup against strong competition from throughout Somerset’s cadet Forces, and is very proud of their achievements.
